We all got to talk to Joe today! It was awesome and he sounds so good! He does have somewhat of a Mexican accent and he struggled with his English a little bit. He is still serving in Istapalapa and truly loves his mission. His companion and him are both really hard workers and they are getting a long well.
He has gained about 20 lbs and now weighs about 180 lbs. He said he has been working out daily and his health is really good. The area he is serving in is kind of rough but he says he feels safety in keeping the rules. The kids were so excited to talk to him and we gave each of them about 5 minutes to just chat and tell them what’s been going on in their lives.
As we wrapped up our visit we had a family prayer together in which Joe prayed for each one of us separately and we said goodbye.
Even though we miss Joe we are so proud he has chosen to serve a mission and the people of Mexico. May God be with him and keep him safe.
